This guide shows you how to turn a horizontal clip into a vertical video with Eklipse AI Reframe, a free tool that runs in your browser.
Horizontal gameplay looks small in a vertical feed, and a fixed center crop can cut off the play. AI Reframe tracks the busiest part of each frame and moves the crop to follow it, so you can check the result before you export.
Before You Start #
- A desktop or laptop browser with JavaScript turned on. No Eklipse account is needed.
- A Twitch clip URL, a direct link to an
.mp4or.webmfile, or a video file (MP4, WEBM, or MOV). - YouTube, Reels, and TikTok links can’t be read in the browser. Download those videos first, then upload the file.
Steps 1-2: Add Your Horizontal Clip #
- Open AI Reframe and choose a tab: Twitch clip URL or Upload clip.
- Paste the link and click Reframe, or drop your video into the upload area. The clip is processed in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
Screenshot tip: the tool with the Twitch clip URL and Upload clip tabs visible.
Steps 3-4: Preview the Vertical Reframe #
- Compare Source and Reframed in the preview. By default, subject tracking is set to follow the action and snaps to new framing on scene cuts.
- Fix the focus if the crop drifts. Drag in the preview to set the focus, or click Lock onto subject and then click the player you want the crop to follow. Reset to auto-track returns control to the AI.
You can also pick a Game preset (or leave it on Auto-detect) and a Layout: Single for one subject in the full frame, or Split (2-up).
Steps 5-6: Choose an Aspect Ratio and Export #
- Pick an Output ratio: 9:16, 4:5, or 1:1.
- Click Export reframed video. The clip is recorded live in your browser with audio and saved as MP4 where your browser supports it, otherwise as WebM.

Tips for Better Results #
- Start with a clip where the important gameplay or reaction is clearly visible.
- Watch the full preview before exporting, and set the focus by hand if the crop drifts.
- For facecam and gameplay in one clip, try the Split (2-up) layout.
- If a link won’t load, download the video and use Upload clip instead.
What Happens Next #
Your vertical video is ready to post to TikTok, Shorts, or Reels. The free tool handles one clip at a time. If you also want captions, memes, and sound effects added, see How do I use the AI Edit feature?
Troubleshooting #
Q: Which inputs does AI Reframe accept?
A: Twitch clip URLs, direct .mp4 or .webm links, and uploaded MP4, WEBM, or MOV files. YouTube, Reels, and TikTok links don’t work in the browser, so upload the file instead.
Q: Nothing happens when I open the tool.
A: AI Reframe runs entirely in your browser and needs JavaScript. Turn JavaScript on, or try another desktop browser.
Q: My export is a WebM file, not MP4.
A: The tool saves MP4 only where your browser supports recording it. Most platforms accept WebM uploads.
