Clear text and catchy captions can significantly increase viewer retention and engagement on platforms like TikTok, Reels, and Shorts. Fortunately, Eklipse allows you to easily add both AI-powered auto-captions and custom text overlays!

Here is a quick guide on how to add text to your videos depending on the tool you are using:

Using Eklipse Studio (Web/Desktop) #

1. Go to your Library and select the clip you want to edit.
2. Click Convert to TikTok to open the clip in a new Eklipse Studio tab.
3. For Auto-Captions: Click the “Auto-Captions” tab from the left-hand menu, select the spoken language, and click “Generate.” You can also toggle animated emojis on or off!
4. For Custom Text: Click “Text” from the left menu. Choose a pre-made design or select “+ Custom Text Style” (Premium feature) to create your own overlay with custom fonts and colors.
5. Once your text looks perfect, click Export to save your video.

Using the Eklipse Editor (Mobile App) #

1. From the Home screen, open your Library and tap the clip you want to edit.
2. Tap Convert to TikTok and choose your editing method (use a Template or Edit from Scratch).
3. Tap Auto-Captions from the bottom menu, select the clip’s language, and tap Recognition to generate your subtitles.
4. If you need standard text, tap Text from the bottom menu to add and adjust your custom overlay.
5. Tap Export to save the video to your camera roll.

Using AI Edit (One-Click Captions) #

If you want the AI to handle all the editing and captioning for you automatically:

1. Click AI Edit from your dashboard (or tap the “Create” button on mobile).
2. Load your clip by pasting a URL, choosing an existing highlight, or uploading a video.
3. Adjust your preferences (editing style, portrait/landscape layout) and make sure the auto-captions feature is selected.
4. Click Generate AI Edit and let the AI process the final video for you!
